New York islanders

The Islander will upset te sharks tonight and start to prove that this team is a playoff contender. I think everyone is overreacting to the shaky start. We all know what this team is capable of. We saw the entire second half last year under cappy. We all need to have a little more confidence in DP because when healthy he can turn into this team into a playoff team.
Let's go Islanders!

1st Period Recap- Islanders First Line Breaks out 4-1 Isles after 1

A great first period for your New York Islanders. The first line got their season opening jitters out of them and lit up Roloson for four first period goals.Tavares had 2 goals 2 assists. Stamkos had one for the lightning. The Islanders have been shooting, skating and passing well thus far and Montoya continues to prove why he should be the number 1 goalie. Let's hope they can continue this effort. Be back after the second Feel free to comment!

Game 2- Islanders 2 WIld 1

The New York Islanders beat the Minnesota Wild in front of 11,278 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum yesterday afternoon by a score of 2-1. The Islanders got their first win of their season improving to 1-1-0 on the season with 2 points which is good for 9th place in the east in this very early 2011-2012 campaign  the Wild fall to 1-1-0 and still have 2 points after.  The game got off to a solid start for the Isles. An early penalty sent the Islanders to the power play after establishing themselves in the offensive zone P.A. Parenteaushot one off the right pad of Backstrom which the rebound was sent back to Andrew MacDonald who rang one off the post and in for the Islanders first goal of the season. Later in the period Mark Streit connected with Frans Nielsen to give the Islanders a 2-0 game. Al Montoya played a great game and was later named the first star of the game.

The Good: The Islanders showed improvement from Saturday Nights game. They skated, passed, and had their forecheck was actually noticeable. The penalty kill was tremendous going 8 for 8.
The Bad: The Islanders need to cut down on the Penalties and the refs need to watch a little closer on some boarding liberties the Wild took
The Ugly: 8 penalties is unacceptable. Plain and Simple

The Road Ahead: The Islanders will host the Tampa Lighting on Thursday at 7pm

Game 1-Panthers 2 Islanders 0

This game was ugly. The Islanders were flat from the puck drop. The panthers scored twice in the first and that would be all. Cappy said the fourth line played the best (Reasoner, Martin and Pandolfo). I guess I'd agree with that frankly they all played lackadaisical and really didn't seem to at any point have the pep in their step most would have expected considering they were in front of a sellout crowd. Montoya was the only standout playing excellent in net.
JUSTIN'S POV: I personally believe the culmination of the Islanders not really playing together as a group thus far in the preseason.
The Islanders will need to step it up and come out skating on Monday and take it to the Wild.
